HOW TO CARE FOR SUSTAINABLE FABRICS?
Share
When it comes to caring for our garments, old habits die-hard. Some conscious effort to change the habits can ensure our garments last long since they have the potential to and also help save the planet.
1. Go with Sustainable Fabrics.
Organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, or other recycled textiles are available in the market today. Ecotonique (which uses 100% organic cotton) is an excellent alternative!
2. Embrace secondhand shopping
Look for pre-loved apparel in thrift stores, vintage shops, and online marketplaces. It eliminates waste and offers clothing a second life.
3. Invest on Quality over Quantity.
Buy fewer, higher-quality garments that will last longer. This lessens the need for frequent replacements and lowers waste.
4. Learn how to repair and upcycle.
Repair minor damages or repurpose your items into new fashions to extend their life.
5. Wash clothes sustainably.
To save electricity and water, wash your clothing in cold water with biodegradable detergents and air dry them.
6. Declutter responsibly.
Instead of tossing away clothing that you no longer need, donate, exchange or sell it. You could also try to upcycle them by embroidery, patch work, hand paint designs, etc.
7. Avoid fast fashion trends.
Resist the temptation to acquire trendy, low-quality products that will go out of style shortly. Concentrate on classic garments
8. Learn about fabrics.
Inform yourself on the environmental impact of various materials. Avoid synthetic materials such as polyester unless they are recycled.
